Cleaning and waiting…

Posted by Lonica on April 22nd, 2007

So, we’ve been posting our condo on Craig’s list, hoping someone would be interested in buying it.  We had three people schedule walk-throughs for this weekend, so I spent all day Saturday cleaning the house and making everything look nice.  One girl showed up Saturday afternoon and she seemed to like the place alright (at least that’s what Scott said–I was gone when she came).  The other two people were supposed to come today (Sunday) at 1:00 and 2:00.  The 1:00 guy has canceled and the 2:00 person is 15 minutes late.  Think they’ll show?  I’m starting to have my doubts.  What a bummer!  What doesn’t anyone want to buy our lovely condo?  Anyway, if anyone out there is reading this and know of a person interested in buying a condo in Mesa, AZ, send them our way!

 UPDATE

We sold our condo, we close escrow on June 12th.  June 9th is our move-out date for all you people who want to come and help!

Enjoying the desert

Last Saturday was a beautiful spring day and I had something like spring fever (you can’t really get spring fever when you never really have a winter…) but I just wanted to spend all day outside.  So, I talked Scott and the rest of my family into making an excursion out into the desert for a dutch-oven cook off.  We left late in the afternoon and had a grand time cooking shishkabobs (except for my dad, who was too good for a kabob–he had to have a steak).  We also had some salads and a pineapple upside down cake.  Everything was delicious and we had a fun time until twilight turned into night and we realized no one had brought any sort of lamp.  So we hurried and packed up (in the almost pitch dark) and headed back home.  One of the things I’ll really miss when we leave Arizona for Ohio is the short drive it takes to be out in the desert.  I’ve really started to like Arizona.  In fact, read the document below to see how I really feel about it!

The Cordell Property

Posted by Scott Rowley on April 10th, 2007

Well we are now officially under contract for the Cordell Avenue fourplex in Columbus.  We got a really good deal on it and if all goes to plan it should be a good starting point for our real estate ventures.  Its about 3700 SF total, so each unit is about over 900 SF, 2 bed 1 bath each.  Although its a little bit stressful right now, buying one place while we are trying to sell one also, we are totally excited about going to Ohio.

If you click below in the blank space it should show you a picture of the property, I don’t know why the thumbnail doesn’t show here.

How do you say Olentangy?

Well its pretty much official, we are going to Columbus for law school at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University.  I have now heard from all my schools, accepted at: ASU, Colorado, Iowa, and OSU (with scholarship), waitlisted at William and Mary.

Last week I made a bid on a 4-unit apartment building (I’m not building little green houses first, just going straight for the big red one!) and we are currently negotiating the price and terms of my slow acquisition of Ohio.  Our condo is on the market, FSBO for now, so if you know anybody who is looking, send them our way.  Here is the link to our craigslist ad http://phoenix.craigslist.org/rfs/313833535.html.  Garth (Lonica’s Dad) says we are taken out of his will once we cross the state line but I figure that we’ll just have to make it up by selling a lot of OSU football game tickets.  GO BUCKS!  Dave and Candace, watch out, there will be a U-Haul taking a left at Kahouts in a few months.

Before we leave though we have a lot of things to do.  I have to graduate, (law schools are so picky about that stuff) only 7 more credit hours after this semester that I will do in the first session of summer school.  Lonica is looking for a new job in Columbus, either working at the Budweiser factory or teaching at one of the 12,531 school districts in Columbus.  We are also planning on going to BVI with the whole family in June, then off to Thailand in July and then back to reality.  I’m new to blogging so if I don’t post back on here for a while just remind me and I’ll keep on it.
